02 Sensors

So I just got my stock h-pipe off(finally!), and I was wondering if there are any ways to test the O2's out of the vehicle. I just want to make sure they work properly before I stick them in my new h-pipe.

Re: 02 Sensors

How many miles are on them? How do they look, they should be a grayish color.

Well the car has 127,000 on it. Not sure if they were replaced at all, although they do say Bosch on them. Does ford use Bosch O2's or are those aftermarket? They are covered with a light coat of black carbon. Can I just clean them using like brakleen or equivalent?

Also anyone with a MAC off-road h-pipe I got two questions.

1.) That O2 injection tube near the crossover tube, can I just pinch that shut(no air pump) or should I get it welded closed?

2.) Why does the h-pipe come with hangers on it, when there are no hangers to put them in on the car?

StangRacer I like the pic in the avatar. Looks just like my blue one with the stock Ford metallic blue.

Your car has 127k miles on, how many miles have you put on the car since owning it? Even though Bosch is a replacement part , I would replace your 02's if you have put more the 40k or 50k miles on it.

All I did to plug the air tube in my h-pipe was fit a bolt that was lightly larger then the opening of the hole and then drove it in with a hammer. No leaks, and very cheap, would even be able to remove it if I was patient enough.

There should actually be a hanger bracket that mounts under the tranny mount. When I bought my car, someone cut the hangers off my h-pipe, and my bracket was removed for some reason too.

Thanks GTStang, that color was exactly the color I was looking for too when I bought it. There's something about the ford metallic blue that just makes it look so good, IMO.

HiFlow: I bought the car with 97K on it, so I put on 30K since. Do you know much about wideband O2's at all? I'm curious if you can use them on a N/A vehicle.

As far as the exhaust bracket, do you mean between the crossmember and the mount? Hmmm, would it be worth it to get one from Ford then or do the headers and cat-back support enough of the weight?

You should just get the H-pipe bracket you can buy a Ford one form Mustangs unlimited for like $10 dollars. Easy to put in and helps keep everything were it is suppose to be.

As far as wideband O2's you can not use those with your stock computer. You need to run a completely different FI set-up like an Accel DFI or AEM plug and play for Mustang to use wideband O2's. Most wideband 02 set-ups are just for data logging and dyno tuners use them on the dyno. Wide-band O2 are very expensive a home-made pieced together set-up for data-logging cost you like $800 in parts. They are great for the ultimate tune but ask yourself do you really need this?

Thanks fordforlife, I'll try that.

GTStang, the only reason I ask is from hearing about the WB O2's on the yahoo tweecer forum. I guess it makes sense that its for in-depth tuning and such. I'll check out that bracket though, thanx.

The tweecers don't directly work with wideband O2's right? You just use the wideband A/F set-up to help you decide what to change right?
