Removing Valve Cover
First off, i'm always looking for ways to improve performance/appearance at low costs. When i noticed my black valve cover had a lot of its paint chipping off, i decided i want to paint it blue with high heat engine paint to match my intake. However, i've never removed a valve cover before, and i was wondering what special things i'd have to do and any gaskets that i would have to replace, any real chance of messing anything up, etc. Thanks for your help.

Re: Removing Valve Cover
well my valve cover just had i think five nuts and washers (dont lose em') and slid off and there was a reuseable rubber gasket. I removed it and did what i needed like sanding and painting. but when u paint stuff paper towels or some thing lint free into all the big holes. oh yeah u might wanna wipe down the underside with a towel because it can be pretty nasty.

Re: Removing Valve Cover
sounds like you just got the car, id replace the gaskets anyways just incase, and the only way you would mess it up is if you where a complete idiot everything should fit into place nicely.

Re: Removing Valve Cover
Thanks for the replys. I've actually had my car for over a year now, the chipping has just gotten pretty bad and i thought it'd be fun and much easier than painting all those plastic interior pieces where you have to be so careful!
