Skylines through Motorex

has anybody bought a skyline GT-R34 form motorex? If so how much was it (without the conversion) and in what conditions? I'm just wondering if I buy a skyline form another dealer, could Motorex then pick it up and do all of the conversions? Or I can send it to them either way, I just want to know if they won't be hard asses in terms of it being a vehicle they did not personally find for me. Any other info in this subject would help me alot in my final decsion.

Re: Skylines through Motorex

70-80k through motorex. top quality conditions. you can buy a car yourself then ship it to motorex to legalize it. but as of 2003 motorex is no longer legalizing r34 models. i bought my r32 GTR from Ins Imports. they have good prices and the reps are super nice. i am having motorex do the legalization for me. i would check them out at www.jns-imports.com

Are you serious! A stock R34 will cost me 70 grand? Is that including conversions and shipping or just the actual car? I thought these r34 were going for around 50K. Is there another place where I can get one?

And why the hell is motorex not converting r34 to US specs? Where else can I get converted for US spec? I have also been seeing different r34 models like V-spec I, V-spec II, and base. What is the difference between them?

Re: Skylines through Motorex

thats for the car, shipping, and legalization fees. legalization is 25k. around 50k for the car and 75k for the whole legalization. motorex is not legalizing r34s because their contract with the DOT and EPA went up. as far as i know, they dont have any plans of renewing it any time soon. the models of the vspecs are tuned...like i said in the other post. there is no other RI that can legally legalize skylines. any and all skylines have to go through motorex.

1999-2002 GT-R GT-R Vspec
Weight 3388 lbs 3432 lbs
Length 181.1 in 181.1 in
Width 70.3 in 70.3 in
Height 53.5 in 53.5 in
Wheelbase 104.9 in 104.9 in
Turning Radius 5.6 m 5.6 m
Fuel Capacity 18.0 gallons 18.0 gallons

Except right now the R34 can't be legalized in the States. That should be sorted out soon. So will RBMotorings compliance paperwork.

oi boy is actually misinformed. Motorex isn't able to legalize R34's currently because they need to use the OBDII system on 98 and newer GTR's. That's the last of the R33's and all R34's. Motorex was using the older, easier to use OBDI system on their cars, but the government put a stop to that.

They are "supposedly" working on developing an OBDII system for R34's that will pass EPA and DOT standards. They say that by September they'll be able to legalize R34's for road use. It's not that I don't believe them, but they also said last August that it'd be done by the end of 2003. We'll see...

Even if Motorex isn't legalizing GTR34 s anymore, If I found a GT r34 thorugh another dealerahip (let's say at a lower price than 50 k) would motorex still have legalized it if they hadn't found the cars themselves?

And when is motorex expecting to continue legalizing R34 for the US?

Yeah, they legalize cars they don't find themselves. They make all their money (which isn't as much as people think) on the legalization of the cars.

Actually its 96 and newer that are not being imported right now. 96 was when the OBDII started

The legalization is actually a side project of their actual business.

OH YEA THIS JUST IN!! I called motorex today to ask them when theyll be legalizing 96+ models again, and they said by the end of this year.

They should have told you, they hope to be legalizing them by the end of the year.

I so want to believe them. I SOOOOOOOO want to believe them.

By the way, your totally right SkylineUSA. 1996 is the newest they can import. Don't know what I was thinking earlier. Moment of stupid.

It would be highly unlikely that you'd find an R34 GT-R for much less than $50k. That's about how much you can expect to pay for one...in Japan. The US dealer would have paid close to that just for the car, and the selling price will be even higher. Why? They would have to pay the total of $70k+ that we told you about before, since the car would be legalized by Motorex. Of course, the dealer still has to make a profit after all that, so the car would be even more.

The car would only be legal if it had been done in the past, before Motorex had to stop legalizing 96-up Skylines. Chances are you won't find an R34, anyway. The few who managed to get an R34 are probably going to hold on to them now.
