Have lower dash panels removed, ash tray out, glove compartment door removed, bolts on black box removed - seperated into two pieces currently (under dash). Now what??? Please don't tell me i have to remove the dash!! Can't get two piece black box to drop down to access heater core! Are there bolts on fire wall? If so where??? Any other words of wisdom on this subject???
Please advise ASAP!!!! Thanks! |

Unfortunately you DO have to remove the dash.
The top half of the dash is held forward with screws under the defroster vent and the speaker grilles. It is pretty labor intensive, and in your driveway will probably take you a patient weekend, just take your time and don't force any parts apart. There are a few electrical connectors and vacuum lines, etc. to be careful of. It may make it easier for you to write down each step you do, so you don't forget anything on the reinstall. Good Luck, and hope this helps.

Re: Heater core replacement - '97 Jimmy...HELP
Did you ever find out how to get the black box removed? I'm having the same problems with my 2000 Jimmy
