CARB Certified

What does it mean when something is or isn't CARB Certified?

Re: CARB Certified

Carb certified has to do with emissions standards. In california they are REALLY strict about emissions, so they would check the intake for CARB certification stickers. But other then CA, I have never heard of any other state really caring about them on the intakes at all.

Re: CARB Certified

How do you know if something is CARB certified? And when talking about intake, are we talking about the air filter, the pipe, or both?

Re: CARB Certified

Filter. And the way to tell...well basically K&N always is...HKS sometimes isn't(i think) and all cheaper brands/ebay almost always aren't. If you have questions about specific ones, call up the dealer/seller and ask.

Re: CARB Certified

My friend suggested that I just buy what I had planned on buying and just install it. However, when going to get my car smogged or whatever, just put the stock intake back on. What do you guys think? That's what he did and said that for the most part, people won't check/care but I wanted to get you guys' opinion on it too.

LOL Guess we posted at the same time. Are you from CA? Is that what you do (put the stock back on when you go for tests)?

Re: CARB Certified

Alotta people do that with intakes/exhausts that aren't legal. Like switching in a cat for the testpipe right before the test.
