Angry "GM Certified Used" = "GM certified screwed"

OK, a little disclaimer. This is sort of a rant here. But, maybe I can accomplish more doing this than just being quiet about the Aurora crisis. There's no reason to berate me. I don't mind if you disagree with me. In fact, I welcome your comments regarding this situation. I just ask that this thread not turn into a yelling match.

Yeah, I'm also quite surprised at GM. Bought a fully loaded 02 3.5 2 months ago for 19500. It was in perfect condition...I thought. OK, don't they do an oil change during the inspection before they sell the car? I took it to get it's oil change a week later and I was told the dealer had given it to me a quart low. Doesn't even look like they changed the basics (Dirty PCV valve, passenger cabin air filter filthy, problems getting key out of ignition, headlights blew out five times in one week.) Now the damn thing sounds like a blender with ten pounds of sand in it...horrible...and really irritating because of the cost of the car. OH yeah, they gave me the car with less than a gallon of gas in it. I hope you guy have better luck that I did...

OK, here's the big question. At the time, I did not have the extra couple of thousand dollars to get an extended warrantly from the dealer. However. I've put less than 10,000 miles on this car since I've gotten it and common sense says that they should fix it. After all, that's the definition of implied warranty that the dealer gave. Should I take it to the dealer and ask them to fix it? If they don't, would it be prudent to take legal action (in the form of a lawsuit)? I love my car, but I'm just so tired of being completly screwed from the get-go by GM. I wish that they would get it through their thick heasds that just because our cars are being produced anymore doesn't mean you can ignore us. Sooner or later GM is going to have a huge problem. I'm going to give them one more chance. They fix the car, or I'm getting a mercedes and not loooking back.

mmm...I can hear those GM fatcats stuffing thier wallets full of my hard earned cash only to bite me in the ass when I want something in return.
BTW, sorry for the dupicate posting of this message on the board.

Re: "GM Certified Used" = "GM certified screwed"

Hey, I know this is an old post, but how many total miles are on the car? Our 02 Certified car has the GM 5/50 (or is it 5/60?) -- the dealer said GM offered your choice of the warranty or a rebate when new, iirc....

Re: "GM Certified Used" = "GM certified screwed"

Zephram,
Hate to dis-agree here but, In Dec. '05 I purchased my fully opted (less MoonRoof/I live in AZ) '02 3.5 with 26k and warranty for $13500 at Ford Dealership in Chandler, Az. Upon getting home, discovered interior lighting did not work, The dealer referred me to Lund Cadillac for diagnosis, where they found a short in passenger side sun-visor, interior electronics pc board location, replacement cost $1000 with labor, Visor alone $750. Cadillac dealer informed that car had a broken engine mount, they contacted Ford dealer, replaced mount, threw in 2 remote starts for in-conveinence and had a CTS for the time they (Cad) had car. My cost $ZERO.
Lund Cadillac now has a loyal service customer and Earnhardt Ford now has a happy camper customer.
Maybe it was in the way you dealt with your dealer, more than the car's problems. Eh.
