Help!! 2000 GMC Jimmy Popping and whining

I have a 2000 GMC Jimmy. It has started making a whining sound when in drive and when I speed up the whining gets louder. It doesnt sound like a belt. Also when I turn left, slow down or speed up from a slow speed it makes a slight popping sound possibly coming from the passenger side of the vehicle. If anyone has ANY suggestions please let me know. Thanks

Jen

Whining

Only in Drive ? How about Neutral and Park ?

Popping

Check the distributor for rotational movement - it shouldn't. If it moves, you'll have to retime the engine ignition.

If the Air Injector pump is mounted that side, check for sticking valves.
