I have just begun to upgrade my 95 gst, here is what I have:
greddy type-S BOV greddy upper/lower intercooler piping high flow cat/ straight pipe injen intake... Should I upgrade my turbo? If so what are my option, and which is the best bang for my buck? What exactly does a boost controller do? Thanks for any info stubbs |

Re: What next?
You may want to look into upgrading your fuel system, ie. injectors, fuel pump. If you do some fuel mods then a turbo I hear that would be good is the 16g. Running DSMlink would be a great upgrade also, because along with everything else it does it lets you tune your a/f ratio. Tuning your a/f ratio in some way is a must for running an upgraded fuel system and a bigger turbo. Another ways to tune is a SAFC, but then you would also want to get a datalogger, the best way to go though would be DSMlink because it incorporates a datalogger. This is all from stuff that I have read from other posts here, if you haven't already, do a search and you will get loads more stuff on upgrading paths.

Youll probably want to get upgrade the clutch first so your car will be able to handle the addition power youd get from a bigger turbo... ACT 2100 or 2600 etc..

Re: What next?
do you have a real boost gauge because the factory gauge isnt an actual gauge it's just the ecu estimate from a couple other sensors and it loses accuracy fast when you start modding
buy a real boost gauge before you run higher then stock boost!

Re: Re: What next?
ya get a boost gauge next before anything else. a boost controller basicly controls when to open the wastegate in order to control boost pressures. depending on what you have to spend you can get a manual one or an electronic one. as far as the best bang for buck on a turbo, look into getting a used 14b [stock on early 1st gens]. usually you can get one for under 100 bucks and an install kit for cheap. also a fuel pump will solve raising boost pressures for now. a 190lph will be fine.

Upgrade paths: http://www.jumptronix.com/2g_go_faster/index.htm http://www.roadraceengineering.com/2gupgradepath.htm http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guid...tage1power.php Have fun reading. Check out the site list also, there are so many answers here, DSMtuners, RKO, etc... it's not even funny. |
