Ok, actually, no one that I know of manufactures and sells clear hoods. You can find them occasionally in a kit, the Tamiya Skyline R32 comes to mind, but they aren't commonly included in kits like that. The issue here is the clear plastic, it is very hard to make them in resin (clear resin, as I understand is a beast to work with) and most aftermarket companies to not have the resources to make them from injection molded styrene which would be the ideal material. The last option is to vacuu-form it yourself. Do a search, beleive it or not somewhere around here there is a whole thread all about making clear hoods.

Re: clear hoods

I have the falken skyline and the 300zx and both have clear hoods. I was thinking of doing one of them with a clear hood painted clear blue or clear red.

clear hood

Actually u can do it Turbo
Dont say u cant wen u ask a question and i say that u can

Description: How to make custom taillights... Windshields... Headlights... hoods and anything else that has to do with "glass" on your diecast
Materials:
• CD Cases-The best plastic I have found. They are the perfect thickness for the windows and lights.
• Piece to modify/change
• Pencil or fine point marker
• Kitchen Pan
• Boiled water
• Wet Sandpaper 2500 grit (OPTIONAL)
• Polishing Compound (OPTIONAL)
Directions:
1. Take what you want to change or modify
2. Put a pattern on the CD case.....
3. Cut it out VERY CAREFULLY!!!! The plastic cracks easily
4. Once you’re done cutting it out get a Pan from the kitchen...
5. Boil some water.... like 1 inch in the bottom.
6. Get a spoon that sits on the ledge of the pan and has some water in it...
7. Put the piece in the spoon that is in the boiling water until it is soft
8. Bend it to shape... It should be clear. And fit perfect if done right.
If it’s not clear
1. Wetsand it with like 2500grit sand paper
2. Then polish it with something
3. Put a coat of clear coat for shine

Re: clear hoods

I dont understand the purpose of a clear hood.
If you want to show off your highly detailed engine cant you put the hood up? or take it off?
I dunno maybe its something else, can anyone fill me in?
