Cool 200+ hp d16?/ b16 or b18 swap?

Is a d16 from a 99 civic ex capable of having over 200 hp? if so how much would the parts cost. also would a b16 be a good engine to turbo, or is a b18 be a better choice? how much would a b16 cost compared to a b18

there is about a 1k difference between the b16a and b18c1. the b18b is good for turbo and it's similarly priced to the b16 but has 1.8L displacement.

the LS motor, b18 is better for a turbo setup as it already has low compression, which is easier to tune, then to have a high compression turbo'd motor.

go with the b18.

I'd beef up the d-series and turbo the hell out of it...but thats just me...i've seen lots of d-series motors with stock internals at about 8psi over 200hp

i doubt with 8psi you'll get 200whp on a d-series engine. But it might be doable (is that a word) with a big ass turbo like a t3/to4e. But anything higher than 200whp on a d-series and i think you should rebuild the engine with quality parts like Piston, sleeves, etc.

would there be a big hp difference between a turbo b18 and turbo b16?

Re: 200+ hp d16?/ b16 or b18 swap?

Basically the B18B(LS Integra) will have more torque than a B16, but the B16 will have more hp at the same PSI level if the same turbo is used. But the B18C1(GSR Integra) will have more hp, and more torque than the B16(SI Civic)

but you can add psi and displacement is harder to add. stroker kits are EXPENSIVE. and it already has low compression pistons which you would probably add to a b16

Re: 200+ hp d16?/ b16 or b18 swap?

Yeah Go with the B18b integra LS motor. It is priced right around the B16 range and you wont need to throw pistons in to run a med. boost ammount like the b16. Still I would only run 8psi on it. The D16 could be nasty but you would need to rebuild the ENTIRE motor in order to puch about 15psi thru it in order to get it into a plus200hp range. I mean i have 15psi onthe street in my b16a2 but i also have 10k under my hood...do i think about maybe i should have gone a b18b route sometimes.......yes. so go with the B18b integra LS motor...There is a reason why the majority of us have told you to go that route...You will be happier come the long run
