assuming there is no vacuum leak or stuck/binding linkage, I would suspect the IACM. if you come to a stop when hot and go into N, does it idle high for 30 seconds then turn the SES on?

Check the gasket on the bottom of the throttle body. Bad about breaking and sucking in. Makes a big vacuum leak and high idle.

You can also get the idle set by running the engine until warm. Then pulling the vacuum hose from the brake booster while the engine ids running. This will make the IAC go to full closed. Pull the disconnect the IAC wire and then plug the vacuum hose back in. Adjust the idle screw to make the engine idle while in neutral or park. Then reconnect the IAC valve wire. This should make it work properly.
As a matter of preference, I always hook/unhook the wires with the engine/power off whenever possible. |
