'97 s-10 2.2 alternator replacement

I've got 94K miles and today the voltage meter dropped to about 10 and the battery icon lit up. I'd replaced the battery less than a year ago so I figure it's time to swap the alternator. Can anyone please give me some tips on getting this done with a minimal amount of frustration?

Help is here.........
1) Disconnect neg. battery cable
2)Remove the nut on the output stud of the alt. (this will have the + battery cable and one or two smaller wires connected to it)
3)Disconnect the wires after removing the nut.Just let 'em hang.
4)Remove the snap-in plug on the side of alt. (should have a brown wire in it)
)Loosen Lg. bolt on alt. (leave this in place until later after loosening)
)Remove bolt from alt. mounting bracket
)Remove bolt from front side of alt (near serpentine belt)
)Loosen the tensioner pully bolt. DON"T REMOVE THE BOLT! Just loosen it a bit until you can push/pull on belt tensioner. This allows you to remove belt from the alt. pully
6)Slide belt from alt. pully HOLDING ALT. IN PLACE W/ OTHER HAND OR W/ HELP
7)Remove lg. bolt and alt.

Need help? PM me and I'll walk ya through it. Good luck, hope it helps.

Perfect - one other thing that helped was removing the coolant reserve tank (and the computer module above it) to get easier access to the alternator. The extra hand space was very handy...

That's the real tip, thanks. I don't think you can get the alternator out of the engine bay w/o removing the coolant reserve tank, and the extra room more than makes up for the small amount of time it takes to pull it.

Also, the tension pulley has a square hole in it to fit a socket wrench. Use this to move the pulley to remove/install the belt.
