02 sensors and check engine light

I put a OBX catback, header, a highflow cat conv and a cold air intake on my 95 GS some time ago and the "check engine" light comes on sometimes after I've driven awhile (or when I drive it hard). If the car sits several days (I work out of town) the light is not on when I start the car. Sometimes I can run errands all day and it never comes on.

Could this be the result of a dead O2 sensor?

If so, is this greatly effecting my performance or making my engine run improperly?

I don't know much about O2 sensors but that they can effect air/fuel mixture.

Thanks for any help or knowledge

Re: 02 sensors and check engine light

Its nothing to worry about its the cat o2 sensor. It is because of the highflow cat. I think I posted a resistor mod, to get rid of it. But IMO leave it whocares.

I had the same problem..my check engine light stays on. Just leave it its no biggy..but if yur unsure about whether or not its the o2 sensor..get it checked out. To my surprise..my o2 sensor was broken so i replaced it and the check engine light went away. However, it came back on days later. I think its just cause of your high flow cat.

Re: 02 sensors and check engine light

Dude goto Autozone and get them to read the codes.wait nvm you have a 95gs, you have to do the key dance thing, there is a post on here somewhere how to do it and what the code means, if its a Fuel Trim Bank 1 you have to change it, thats the front o2 sensor and you need that one working. If its theother o2 sensor its mainly for emissions but not sure how importsnt it is, but i do know you need the front o2sensor.
