hi all,
my first post on this site and was wondering if anyone has come across this code before. EECS small leak detected - bad gas cap? if so is there any way to test them? appreciate any help.

Usually you can test them easily with a pressure gauge, but I think this usually requires an adapter that will attach to the back of the fuel cap which probably costs as much as a new fuel cap. You might try taking it by Autozone to see if they can test it.

For a 2000 here's the details on the fuel cap:

relieves system pressure above 14 kPa (56.21 inches H2O).
relieves system vacuum below 3.8 kPa (15.26 inches H2O).

thanks for the input, used mechanics wire to free up the check valve in the gas cap and i've been CEL free for about a week. paid $200 for a OBD II code reader and i figure it almost paid itself off in one repair ($80 for diagnosis and at least a new OEM gas cap plus installation). i wish autozone would make its way to canada, the free troubleshooting help is a great idea.
