Jetta alarm prob.
My 96 jetta is having a problem with its alarm engaging and disengaging. Sometimes I can disingage it from the drivers side door and sometimes I cant. It unlocks the door but the alarm is still engaged. I can disingage the alarm and open the doors from the passenger side. This changed after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Before I could not get the alarm to disengage from the passenger side. What is going on? I dont have the remote for the alarm so I have to use the key.

Re: Jetta alarm prob.
Chances are, you never had a remote for your 96. 96 models didn't come with keyless entry. However, your problem is a simple one. Your door lock actuator is broken, and you basically just need a lock cylinder overhaul with updated parts. Very cheap and easy to do. I plan on doing up a DIY with pics very soon for this. Watch my site, www.dub-tech.com, for this and many other DIY's.
