|
fan removal?
i'm looking for advice on the best way to remove the fan/clutch from the water pump there is a 1 5/8" nut that screws onto the water pump i can't seem to find the way to loosen that. 94 f150 w inline 6. any advice is appreciated.

okay don't take the serp belt off untill you get the big nut off those tools that hold the pulley never work. okay so the belts still on right?? put the wrench on it now smack the end of the wrench with a BFH(hammer) the impact will brake it loose with a couple smacks. the nut uses conventional threads so turn it cc. another way to get it off is use an air chisel if you got one. put the chisel on a corner of the nut and give it a little shot it'll spin right off. good luck!!

that worked perfect thanks for the advice. by the way the people at the auto stores had no idea what the special tools were.
