96 C1500 Fan Removal

After reading several generic instructions I am unable to remove a spring coil fan and clutch from the water pump. I have removed the four bolts from the pulley and I have removed the pump from the block with ease but can't seperate the fan from the pump. Any ideas?

If it is like my 98, the big nut-shaft unscrews from the water pump.

Just get a big ass adjustable wrench...the pump shaft is threaded (easier to do if there's belt tension holding the pulley still)
