On my 2000 p/u last summer the a/c quit working in August of course. After taking it to the shop I was told that the tensioner along with the belt were both missing. What? Anyway, got it fixed...5 months later, a/c is not working again, looked under the hood to find there was a tensioner still in place, but no belt. Put a new belt on and a/c works again, but there is a squealing noise when the clutch on the a/c unit engages. Feels likes it pulls the truck down a little too. Any thoughts?

A/C breaking belts
R Jones,
I'm having similar problems with breaking belts on my AC compressor. I've changed the compressor but now it's noisy and slowing engine speed as you mention. Did you resolve your problem? What was the cause? Thanks, Greg |
