2000 silverado u-joint problem

Hello, newbie to the site.
I've got a 2000 siverado with the u-joint squealing pretty bad. Is there a trick to taking this thing out, took off the rear straps and went to slide the driveshaft forward, nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

If its anything like the 89-98 years, there are 2 plastic pins that hold the u-joint in the driveshaft. What I did to remove them was heat it w/a torch and then pressed the u-joint out w/a vice or hydraulic press.

Yea, my u-joint has the round clips to hold it into the driveshaft. The problem I'm having is just getting the driveshaft off of the rear end.

if you have unbolted the straps, stick a pry bar between the center of the cross, and the pinion nut, and gently pry forward or back to rock the u joint out of the yoke.

use wd-40 or pb blaster and then "tap" the joint with a hammer. Excesive force can damage the pinion bearing so be careful.

I tried the pry bar on the cross. Didn't budge. I'm really starting to get ticked off at this thing. I've never spent so much time on a u-joint in my life.
The drive shaft should slide forward in the transfer case right? I need about a half and inch to clear the rear yoke.

Hmm...can you move the driveshaft at all??? Sounds like the slip yoke isn't..slipping? Also, this might sound crazy, but I've had to put my truck in Neutral, and set the park-brake to give it some extra play to get it out.

I have replaced both front and rear Ujoints on my 2000 silverado. We removed the drive shaft and used a large "C clamp" to remove the ujoints. Worked very well and was able to replace the 2 of them with ease. Now that they're replaced, I still get a "squeak" when starting from a stop position. Not sure what the hell is causing it. Thought the Ujoints would fix it and they seemed to do it for about a day or two, then the squeak was back. Possibly thinking that it's the rear leaf springs rubbing against one another????????? The truck only has 24000 miles on it. Any suggestions anyone???
