Angry sr20det engine

i own a 92 sentra se 1.6l engine i wanted to add the sr20det for about 2500

my se needs some body work and a paint job so that there runs me about 2500 not to mention i need a new windsheild

so instead of puting 2500 into the se i plan on buying a used car which has good body and paint the engine condition or miles wouldnt matter because id be adding the sr20det

i want to get the nissan nx which has the 16ge i beleive or the nissan 200sx se

does this sound like a good plan or should i fix up the se

Re: sr20det engine

hmm..it all depends on what you want! B13's(91-94 sentra and NX1600,NX2000), are better track cars than b14's(200sx's) because they are heavier and have ugly rear suspension. i would recomend to look for a NX2000 91-93(only years produced) and it already has a SR20DE in it. but since they are so hard to find, i think your should stick with your car!trust me...they are ripping you off! body work and paint job could not be over $1500. lets say you have 4 mid size dents on your body and minor work. you shouldnt have to pay more than $1500 for that!make it $2000 FOR A PROFESSIONAL PAINT! just find a good cheap place to paint it and keep your car. also...our engines are GA16DE's, not 16GE's..

Re: sr20det engine

How is buying a whole other car on top of the cost of an SR20DET going to be less expensive than just buying an SR20DET and swapping it into your current car?

where do you live? canada? mexico? the U.S.A. models 91-94 came with GA16DE's. sorry, but no wonder you want to change engine...lol, i drove a 87 sentra with a carb engine, omg...it soo slow! i would suggest save up $3000 and get a SR20DET and you will have enough money for the swap. but where do you live?

If you honestly think you're going to convert your Sentra to AWD, a vehicle never designed to accomodate an AWD drivetrain, you've really got to ask yourself if you're going to be able to swap a SR20DET in yourself. Honestly, it doesn't seem like you know much about cars so I'd highly recommend you hold off on dumping money into anything before you do extensive research. A Sentra wouldn't take any kind of AWD drivetrain without extensive fabrication and money.
