I have taken timing cover off a '95 escort, and I had to take every bracket (engine mount) off, so I could take out the plastic cover. It sounds stupid, but I had to, it's Ford, expect stupidity from them.
Anyways, if my '95 escort I had to take a few things off, that means that in '93 it's the same thing. They didn't learn from '93, to make work easier for a '95 |

belt cover! support the engine from below. Why would you need to remove motor mounts that are not anywhere near the cover?? also how did your head gasket " dissapear" it had to have been there or the car would not have run at all..maybe you have a blown (leaking) gasket.. |

Re: 93 escort head removal???
one corner of the gasket is gone and the one head bolt is rusted into , looks to be right at the block but i haven't got the head off to se exactly where the bolt is broke, the head was leaking at the front right side of the motor to let the water actually run out on the motor , thank you for your response

You might want to get a head at a local bone-yard and have a machine
shop service it then re install with a new gasket. If your bottom end is tight you should have a good running motor. The only mistake I made while driving my 'scort to 136K miles is not changing out my radaitor as the car aged. When I got a new radaitor my running temp went WAY down..it was a Modine brand, got it at NAPA for $105. If you spend time and money to get your motor running check that the radaitor is not gunky and has good flow. Might as well change out the water pump while your in there as well as mine went out at 110K. As we all know these motors dont like being overheated.. Anyway good luck and let us know how you make out.. |

Re: 93 escort head removal???
I know I am a little late on this thread but for those of you looking at this down the road you do not have to remove the motor mount. Th e cover is plastic it will bend without damage. Pull the top toward you and twist toward the mount. make sure it has cleared both mounting studs and pull straight up.

I tried that and it was more fustrating then taking the mount off. And you still have to take it off to get it back on right. (jmo)
