3rd gen with some problems

ok, wanted to run this by some of the more experienced members here cuz it has several issues.

one: its a 91 si...noone knows jack about preludes made before 92
two: its a modified car...not much, but enough.
three: im just about broke.

heres the problem. my heater core (?) hose broke and was spraying coolent all over my engine bay. the problem was bad enough that white smoke was pouring in my AC vents.

bought this keen hose repair tape. problem temporarily solved.

well, in the process of fixing it, i found out that my car rarely starts, will barely idle, wont accelerate except under the lightest touch of the gas pedal, and just about dies every time i drop below 2500 RPM.

Its pops like whoa, backfires as loud as a 12 gauge and the poping gets more rapid with RPM increase...so i think the problem is that the coolant that was spraying all over the place fouled a plug wire (i found coolant in the distributor cap where you plug in the plug wire) and im misfiring a cylinder

the question is, is that all it could be, or do i need to look for something else as well (fuel delivery?)

The loud popping is your timing, yes the coolant could be a problem and if got inside of your dist. cap then you probaly have a broken cap.

Second get a new or resolder your main relay,starting problem (how to find) sit in your drivers seat find your fuse box and on the left hand side of your fuse box there will be a black add on box that is your main relay.
