99 DX Redline RPM

Simple question. What RPM does my DX Red line at? I finnaly installed a sweet tac in my car and need to know the max rpm so that i can configure it to red light before the max RPM. I was thinking maybe 1000rpm before red line. So if any one knows what it is that would be great. Thanks guys.

Re: 99 DX Redline RPM

Take the revs up to fuel cutoff. It is 6800, but you could have found out yourself

Max power for the D16Y7 comes at 6300RPM according to Honda. Redline may be at 7100, but fuel cutoff is 6800 from what people that have tried it, tell me.

People with experience on this.

There's a difference between the fuel cutoff point, and the actual redline. Honda limits you from testing out what the redline really is. Besides, what's the point of hitting it if you're losing power some 500 RPMs before it anyways?

Wink

Hey thanks for all the responses! I guess I'm babying my car because I seem to be shifting gears at 3000-3500RPM for normal driving and 4000-4200 when I just want to go! Do you guys think I'm being to nice to my car? All my friends seem to think I drive my car like I stole it. But I love my baby ( Car )!

Oh man.... your 1/4 mile time has got to be like 22 seconds when your shifting at 4K.... that has to be so slow. honda's love RPM's, use them.

Not all of them. The sohc's are just like any other economy engine, made for just that.. economy. An Si or Type R engine was built to rev higher though.
