gsr vs. 96? maxima

i was crusin at about 50 down a two lane semi-highway saturday night and a white maxima pulled up on the side of me and a guy rolled down his window and signalled me to go, i just look over at my girlfriend and drop it into second(!), i was surprised for a minute (since 50mph into second shoots my car forward instantaneously) that we just stayed side by side, as soon as i shifted into third i started rolling away, and by the end of 3rd (90mph) i was a full car length ahead and still pulling strong, it was almost too easy, i just shut down and let him pull up on the side for a thumbs up, and it just happened that a kid from my old high school was in the passenger seat... the next day (today) i was droppin my girl off at the school and my buddy pulled in ---
him - "my bro had no idea how you shot forward like that, i had to tell him you had a vtec"
me - "was it a five speed?"
him - "yup"

nice one, yeah that VTEC in the high RPM will get you every time. Try it from a stop and it might have been a different story.
