Integra GSR vs Maxima SE

These cars are very nice and fast cars...the Maxima being a Nissan and therefore faster =P. Just kidding the v6 helps. These cars are pretty close with 0-60 times and 1/4. I am not sure about track times but from what I have seen Maximas run more with Type-R's. I cant afford a Type-R so I was comparing these two. The maxima of course being a 5 speed model...what do you guys prefer

Umm lets see Big heavy semi-Luxury Sedan Vs a light weight high reving 2dr coupe?
Well it depends do you want to take Grandpa shopping and not have to worry about jarring his back, or be able to drive round corners with emotion and control?
The US must get a pretty Hipo version of the Maxima and slow as version of the GSR if thier close in a straight line, but regardless the GSR will be faster and more involving in the twisty stuff. While the Maxima will have a lot more interior room, a softer ride etc.
What are you looking for in a car? because other than being FWD these two cars have very little in common.

The current Max with 222hp is 6.7 seconds 0-60. How fast is the GSR?
The 2002 Maxima will have 3.5 liters with 260hp so it will be even faster.

vs

Well, actually I was comparing to 1997 cars. But the speed is still the same on the Maxima

0-60
integra 7.1
maxima 6.6-6.8

1/4
integra 15.4
maxima 15.0

On the track the maxima is actually just as good as a GSR, its people that are ignorant and think because its heavy its slow, but size doesnt always matter when you have so much power to make up for it. Check out www.maximadriver.com to realize that this "grandpa car" is actually very quick and aggressive grocery getter

Wow, either Nissan gave the US journos tricked cars to test, or the USDM maxima is quite diffrent to the NZDM one. (even though they both have the same hp). All the Kiwi mags iv seen quote the Maxima in the 8-9 sec bracket, up there with other cars in the same class like the Comodore and Falcon.

Well

Yeah maximas do only go 0-60 in 9 seconds, I got mine going 0-60 in 10 one time, but hey, it is only my grandpas car and another time I raced a civic Si and smoked it....of course civic si's only go from 0-60 in like what 7.7. So maybe law of physics was just on my side that day

duh

I think wherever your from, you got a slower version of our car, because every website I have checked out said 6.6-6.8 and on an automatic it says 7.4. After 205LBs of torque does help pull the car rather quick. Sorry to be sarcastic with you early!

I got no problem with sarcasim. I was checking around a few sites as well, and they all quated times of around 6.7, which is bloody fast, certainly faster than the NZDM version.
I think maybe we got a Larger bodied car that is bigger and heavier in order to compete with Comodores/falcons and Toyota Avalon, while in the US you get a smaller lighter version so it falls into a diffrent market segment and donst have to compete with the larger US domestic cars. Just like the version of the Honda Odessy we get is quite a bit smaller than the US version.

If the Maxima is really that fast in the US and of a comparable price to the GSR then I say take the Maxima and add some decent suspension mods to help it through the twisty stuff.

Yea, that generation maxima is a GREAT car we used to have one (98 maxima) Ive taken that thing ALL over, and pushed the HELL outta that car, and no matter what i dished out it always pulled through. And yea you're right there is tons of low end torque in the engine....which is alot of fun. When you drive it, it feels like it has more power then 190bhp.
