clutch problem

installed a 200.00 clutch from auto zone. ive put 700 miles on the car and now it seems like the power band goes flat at 3200 rpm. the car dosn't fall on its nose just dosn't pull anymore although the rpms rise and the boost gauge goes to almost 15 psi, in fact the check gauge light comes on at around 14 psi. did i install a clutch that couldn't take the brute power. auto zone has two morte clutchs offered for 275 and 322 dollars or do i have a sensor problem? any help will surely be appreciated

Re: clutch problem

Did you drive that nicely for the first 500 miles to break it in or did you start hammering on it? It is possible that you did not allow it to break in properly and hence the slippage. OR the pressure plate does not have strong enough springs to hold the pressure. I don't know for sure what holding force the OEM is for comparison.
