2000 Silverado Hesitation Fixed

I have a 2000 silv. 5.3 a few with about 70,000 miles. About six months ago, i noticed that the idle was a little off so i decided just to put new spark plugs in it, AC-Delco 41-952, the recommended ones. Not too cheap, but worth the shot, I know these truck had intervals of 100,000 but i still did it, at first it was ok but within a few days the truck started hesitating, i woulf floor it, and it would stutter then would take off. Also as time passed it later had startin problems, i would have to crank it several times, once it got going it would sputter for a little then get going. THis scared the crap out of me, so i check the egr valve, (ok) changed the fuel filter(ok), check if it had a vacumm leak around the intake(nothing), Fuel pressure regulator(was ok, no gas), also checked the gap on spark plugs, (seemed ok). I was giving up already, was going to take to the dealer, but just for the f@#$ of it, my friend hooked me up with some spark plugs Bosch 2 , for cheap. So i put them in, and truck has been perfect since. Starts right away, no more cranking, floor it all the time no hesitation, smoother idle. Still confuses me, why they seemed to the trick. Anyways just FYI , my truck still running strong for a month already, so looks like it fixed it. Just crossing my fingers.

Re: 2000 Silverado Hesitation Fixed

Thanks Loki!! I'm going to get new plugs for my Silverado (5.3 Z71) and been asking around about which plug might be best. Been hearing about the Bosch 2's and that they're pretty good.

Wonder if the Denso Iridiums are worth the extra money...... I guess they're about $10-$12 each so the benefit would have to be pretty noticeable!

I too have the Bosch 2's they work great!!!! After replacing my beat AC Delco's I noticed smoother power, better gas mileage, and quicker starts.

Thats, tight yankee, hopefully thet work for you. They havenīt failed me yet, but still confuses that my truck had such a bad starting problem , and the little hesitation, but all that matters is that it works......
