'89 spirit troubles
Okay, so, for about 6 months now my Spirit has been losing oil... at a variable pace. It loses it through the Valve Cover Ventilation Hose (the hose that runs from the Valve Cover to the Air Filter assembly, not the PVC valve). So the inside of the Air Cleaner assembly is just covered in oil. A call to the dealer said it was either blown rings, or the cowling under the valve cover was missing or damaged and was allowing oil to spin off the cams.
Today, however, I go to check my oil and I notice a lot of white smoke/steam coming out from the under the oil cap. I remove it, and still white smoke/steam that has very little smell. So I say to my self... great....... So I turn on the engine with the cap off... and my engine looks like a steam engine. This white colum of smoke comes puffing out of the hole. Constant. So... what's my problem? I don't seem to be losing coolant, so I doubt it's my headgasket (especially since it got replaced about 25,000 miles ago)... so I'd have to guess it's exhaust gasses. Stuck valve? Water in the oil? Blown Rings? Not sure there are any other options. The engine at idle also is very rough. Feels like it could die at times.
Any help would be appriciated. I'm a poor college student that really can't afford any unnecessary work, or a new car, so any work I can do on my own would be great.
Thank you,
Staze
