Angry '89 Camero trouble starting 2nd time

Hello, I have a 1989 camero V8 305, the camero starts fine the 1st time I start it. I will come back, say 1 hour later, and it has the hardest time starting, and this is getting worse everyday. I have to hit the gas and get the engine rpms up to get it to stay started.
Also, if I have to sit in one place for more then 10 mintues, the temperature gauge goes up to at least 220, then I will get going again, and the temperature goes back down.

Does anyone know what could be wrong with my car? I am new at this, so I need details, ok.

Thanks so much for your time,
Candice

The temp is normal, Camaros are desinged to run at 220, the fans don't even come until past that. You could make sure the air dam (black plastic piece sticking out from under the radiator is still there and in one piece. But Camaros '82 - '92 do run a bit hot.

As for the starting issue, when was the last time your Camaro has seen a tune up?

Yea, give it a tune up first. Has the car ever overheated? If it has you need to replace that thermostat, it may be sticking. Even though they do tend to run warm, its cheaper to replace a thermostat then a piston. If the car still gives you problems starting it could be VAT's or maybe even an ignition switch. You could possbily even have a fuel pump losing life. This is a lot for a newbie...give it a tune up and come back lol.
