Trouble with '89 Cherokee Trouble Codes...
I''ve got a 1989 Cherokee 4WD L6-242 4.0L... and am trying to diagnose as many things as I can before $pending dough on various parts... So-
1. I've read around here that the 89 "does not store codes". - Is this true? 2. a. If it doesn't, is a dealer the only place to get them read while driving the thing with the DRB II reader hooked up? Or, do parts stores sell them? b. If it does store codes, how does one go about getting them? 3. Where is the connection to get the codes on this rig? 4. I don't seem to have a 'check engine' light- I tried the ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON trick, didn't notice any check eng. light, so i pulled the guages, checked the bulbs in back, power to them, no probs... Am I not supposed to have this light? or am I really missing something here? Thanks in advace people... my wallet and sanity appreciate the help! |

However, the sensors can all be tested using a multimeter. If you google for Jeep FSM, you'll find links to the 1988 FSM. This will contain the pinouts and values for the sensors. Here's a good place to start. http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...iagnostics.htm |
