need advice and or help!

I just Spent the last 4 mos re-building my 3.9l for my 94 dak. When i say re-build i mean down to the last nut and bolt. With that being said ... the motor went in ok and it started ok . Now here's where it gets weird.... oil pressure looks good at start-up then goes down. I noticed this when I was timing the engine and also noticed that the engine would run rough when this happened and the truck would die. Keep in mind that the engine, (at start-up) sounds And runs great. only after about a minute does the problem start. ...... the only part that was not changed was the distributor. Since the distibutor drives the oil pump, I'm wondering if I have a bad dist. and need to replace it. Very frustrated and very puzzled need advice and or help !!!!!! I'm so close !!!!!

That's very interesting...

My 3.9 has lower oil pressure at idle, but if you hit the gas when it's idling, the oil pressure will pick up and then fall down. My motor has never been torn down.

Change that distributor, that would be common sense. If you know it drives the oil pump, and you have low oil pressure, that makes things that much simpler...

I agree with Bleeddodge. You spent all that time and money making the engine new and forgot a major componant.

When you had it torn apart did you notice the teeth on the dist being chewed or broken. Either way I would replace it and then your engine will be really rebuilt.
