I am looking to buy an Acura RSX type S and i have a few questions regarding the purchase. Ok first off dont try and convince me to get some other car, this is the one im getting. Ok- so the Hp is 200hp (at 7400 rpm) and the torque is 142 lb-ft of torque at 6000 rpm and is FWD
- usually when i see cars the torque and the Hp are usually pretty closely matched - what could be the advantages/disadvantages of having low torque - how should i drive it? Should i run it close to the redline? - am i going to be slower off the launch because of the low torque? (take into account its also FWD) If you have anything else to add about the RSX about the first mods or just experiences i would be really interested in reading them - thanks. |

Re: Rsx type s- disadvantages with low torque
First off, power is what accelerate the car, it's also what makes the top speed of a car.
142 lb-ft @ 6000 rpm means that the car gives 165 hp at this point since torque*rpm=power. So this engine is simply making power by rpm rather than by torque. This will give an advantage during part throttle; low rpm can be used with a high manifold pressure to produce the low power needed under those conditions. Higher intake manifold pressure means a higher efficiency and lower fuel consumption. You will have to use a higher rpm when launching the car. |
