knocking in engine of 97 sl1

my 97 satrun sl1 has a very loud knocking sound and when you rev up the engine it shakes really bad. Could this be the pistons going and is my engine done with?????? help help

Could be a couple of things. could be a bent connecting rod, or part of ur exhaust pipe might have collapsed. most likely the exhaust pipe. the rod wouldnt cause shaking. either way, ur engine isn't done with...it might just need some $$ pumped into it

i think your first problem is that your motor is made of old beer cans

you also might have spun a rod bearing. is it spitting out alot of smoke and just basically running bad.

no, the knocking is right under the hood, get really loud with decelleration.

VICKI, THE RODS AND THE HEAD GASKETS ON THIS MOTOR HAVE PROBLEMS. DON'T KNOW WHAT THE MILEAGE IS, BUT YOUR NOISE DESCRIPTION TEELS ME IT AIN'T GOOD. THIS IS NOT THE BEST MOTOR IN THE WORLD. TRY AND GET IT QUIET AND MAKE IT SOMEONE ELSE'S PROBLEM. GET A TOYOTA OR A HONDA AND GO ON YOU MERRY WAY.
