Turbo swap
Lets say i had a 94 SL with no engine in it, is it a bad idea to try to swap in a turbo engine? i know this has been asked before but i'm wondering exactly how hard it is to swap it in.
Plus i found a jdm engine with everything i need (i think). ebay engine http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33615 Sould i just say screw it and throw in a n/a? |

Re: Turbo swap
Well, the twin turbo swap is a difficult swap, also realize that you may need to upgrade more then the engine...I have never done it, so do some more research, but I know its not just an engine swap. Also realize that the TTs have AWD, you have FWD, so a limited slip differential at the very least would be necessary to make sure you don't spin you're tires all the way through 4th gear. You may need some parts from a vr4..good luck tho

Re: Turbo swap
You can do it if you get a front clip but otherwise it will be rough, and as far as the lsd you will need it but not right away , of course your tires will spin madly but if you can't handle it learn how to drive

This is one of those jobs that the difficulty will depend on your skill level and familiarity with the car. One of the guys down in Detroit area who did it took most of the summer. He knew the car well, but had not done any engine swapping up to that time. You'll appreciate the power difference if you have the time.
