1990 Dodge Caravan possessed by devil!

Just purchased 1990 Dodge Caravan. It would not start until I relieved fuel pressure and changed fuel filter. It ran and drove for a day and now it won't start again. It started today when I drained the fuel line, then died in idle about 10 minutes later. Wont start again. Im kinda new to the mechanic scene so I was wondering if anyone has had this problem in the past? (spark is good, new filters...air,fuel). Fault code is 12 then 55. I also thought it might be the control module so I went to the junkyard and picked one up out of a 93 Voyager. Connection is the same but it still doesnt work. It could also be bad, or not interchangeable. I was leaning toward trying a new fuel pump, since it is a lot cheaper than a new module....HELP!

remove the inlet to the fuel filter and see if the fuel pump is delivering fuel to the filter. If the fuel pump diaphragm weakens it won't deliver pressurized fuel to the system. It may deliver enough to fill the lines and start the vehicle and then fail. The real way to tell is to check the pressure at the fuel filter inlet line and see if the fuel pump has enough pressure to deliver.
