need help with crx engine swap to do list
I have a 86 crx stock, it has a GHN1.5VEFCF2 engine ( from what i read under the hood). It has 200k miles on it and needs to be replaced. Im a fan of speed so of course i would like a little more hp than what this engine has and also want something fuel injected. Was looking to get a used 1.6L from 88-91 civics, but dunno if i can put it in or what ( im a noob to honda, was currently a huge fan of VW but this crx fell into my lap ) also I don't know what all the B16 models and such mean , I've been seeing them on the boards.
Anyways I'm not rich so looking to keep the price down, dunno what all I need to do and also what engine would be best for my intrest. If anyone can help could you pls inform me on some engines that can fit this crx and what all i need or need to do for a engine swap. Thanks and feel free AIM me at XconZero Xcon |

Re: need help with crx engine swap to do list
hey, well the 88-91 civic engine will not work, all honda engines from 87 and earlier have differant engine mounts then 88 and newer. However the 86-89 Acura Integra (D16A1 1.6 16V DOHC PGM-FI 1590 113hp@6250rpm 99tq@5500rpm '86-'89 Integra (USA)) motor does have the older engine mounting set up, instead of talking about something i have never done i will simply direct you to someone who has,
this guy has done what u want to do and has lots of pics and info http://www.muller.net/sonny/crx/ also CRXDan who has keept up with this forum in the past has doen it as well, not sure is he still keeps up tho.

Re: need help with crx engine swap to do list
yeah, its a popular question (hence the sig) i happened to stumble across that site a while ago and it has been a invaluable resource, i want to do that swap on a first gen 4 door accord, that would be pretty sweet

Re: need help with crx engine swap to do list
just remember that it is not always easy finding parts for older cars so if you upgarde to like say ZC motor you will be able to get alot more cool stuff for it but there arre still a few things out for the integrea D16a1 not bad block still a lot of vaccume hoses and crap like that the ZC swap will cost more but i think it is well worth it

Re: need help with crx engine swap to do list
Check this out. This will explain in depth how to swap in a D16A1 (printable)
http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/SCC-ZC-Article Does anyone know how we can start a FAQ page for 1st gen CRX/3rd gen Civic? There seem to be alot of people asking the same questions and alot of people giving incomplete or incorrect answers. It would be nice if some of us that have already done these modifications could get together and create a page that would provide answers from our own experiences. |

But what would happen is someone would create a Sticky thread and give it a suitable name and give all the info they have available, then leave it open for a while to let anyone else add any info they have to add (making sure that it is not off topic) and then lock it so it would just a resource at the top of the page. I can give Igor an email in a day or two but it would probally be a good idea to start a thread now just to see what people have as far as info. Let me know what you guys think.
