Stupid Govener

on my 97 formula my car is goverened at 115. i have a 6 speed manual but i have 3 friends one has a 97 camero z28 automatic, one has a 2002 ws6 automatic and the other has a 2000 firehawk speed, does anyone have an idea why the hell my car is goverened. no one else that i know with a trans am or camero has this problem. and also if anyone knows where i could get a programmer for cheap to get that crap off there.

Assuming you are in sixth gear when it won't go faster, how fast will it go in fifth? Does it stop accelerating at the same RPM or MPH?

it stops accelerating just before redline in 4th gear

Why don't you shift into 5th gear?

I have a 97 formula with auto trans (2.73 factory gears), I have gone 140-mph regularly...Does your speedo limit at 155 mph or 110 mph?

I have a 97 6-speed T/A and I don't have any problem going 130mph+ but my co-workers firebird(v6) does have a govener.

mine limits at 155 it doesnt matter if i shift into a higher gear the fuel still cuts off no matter what gear im in.

ill check at what rpm's it shuts off at in 5th and 6th tomorrow i just seems wierd that mines like that

I haven't had mine up to 155 before so I couldn't tell you what happens when I do and for the time being I don't plan on doing so.

i didnt mean i got it up that high im just saying thats what the speedo reads i cant get past 115

Do you mean 115? So the fuel cuts off at 115 no matter what gear yo u're in I assume? Interesting...

True that and i tried it today cuts off at 115 whether im in 4th 5th or 6th
