An 85 should have a carb, therefore no ECU either like newer fuel injected cars. No it does not have a governer unless you are putting in a newer fuel injected engine and ECU.

The 1985 Trans Am had either the LG4 4bbl or the LB9 TPI (305 Tuned Port Injection), which means ECM equipped. But no speed limiter.

Does anyone know if my 1999 Firebird V6 (3.8L) have a speed-limiter or governor... and if so, how to remove it?
I also tried to find a performance chip for the 3.8L but no luck so far. |
