Stupid!stupid!stupid!!stupid!!!stupid!!!

Did I say that I was stupid? When I got off of work this morning I figured that I would run a few errands before I went to sleep, I stopped by the Post Office and shipped a package, no problem , I then stopped by Autozone to pick up a new oil filter and some seafoam, I figured that I could change the oil filter In about 2 minutes, I wanted to try out that new K&N oil filter, changed it in a minute and a half!

Next I pulled my brake booster line and put a funnel in it to put the Seafoam in, I figured that I would be in bed in about 30 minutes, I started the Blazer then came around to the front , started to pour in the Seafoam a trickle this went on for about a minute, Ive done this a few times before and I started to get bored, I poured in about a third of the can, then I turned off the truck, I then went back to the front of the truck and procceeded to dump the rest of the bottle into the booster line!! I went into the house and sat for about 15 minutes, I came back outside and turned the key on the truck expecting to see a big plume of white smoke, No smoke, no start ,nothing, Just a big Kerchunk!! I HYDRO LOCKED MY ENGINE!!!!! Needles to say I have spent the last three hours working on my engine!!! I pulled the spark plugs and a sea of Seafoam flowed from each and everyone of them.

Just a warning do not use the whole bottle!! 1/3 is enough!!! My Blazer is now running again ,I am so tired, My feet and hands are frozen, But one good thing did happen I found a sparkplug wire that was burnt in half from the Header's!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Stupid!stupid!stupid!!stupid!!!stupid!!!

So, your truck is running now. Glad to hear that.
What is the proper method for using Seafoam? I understand that you are supposed to put 1/3 of the bottle into the throttle body or carbuerator - depending on what you have - and 1/2 bottle into the crankcase, when you do an oil change. I understand that you can use a whole can in the gas tank - with a fill-up. Why do you put it into you're brake booster line? I hadn't heard of that application.
Please forgive me if I sound uninformed - it's only because I am...

Re: Stupid!stupid!stupid!!stupid!!!stupid!!!

You suck it in through the vacuum system, hence the break booster

It's the best and easiest way to get seafoam into it! I can tell you that it does work, the carbon on the sparkplugs just wiped right off.

Re: Stupid!stupid!stupid!!stupid!!!stupid!!!

You have to modulate the throttle and keep the rpms close to 2000 while you are doing it and it is best to use a smaller line like the pcv line for introducing a substance like that seeing it will slow how much is taken in.

A proper application procedure will allow you to injest a whole seafoam can properly.

Re: Stupid!stupid!stupid!!stupid!!!stupid!!!

I am thinking about putting a t splice on one of the lines to make it easier to get to for the next time that I do a carbon cleaning. I don't have that much access to the top of the engine, I have to remove a few ducts.

Re: Stupid!stupid!stupid!!stupid!!!stupid!!!

PCV line should be easy to access though.

Re: Stupid!stupid!stupid!!stupid!!!stupid!!!

Just remember to allow it to suck in slowly through the PCV line at higher rpms close to 2000 on the tach, and make sure you have easy access to the throttle linkage so you can modulate it as the seafoam tries to kill the engine.

Re: Stupid!stupid!stupid!!stupid!!!stupid!!!

On the subject of seafoam I was told by a friend that immediately following the treatment you should change your oil (makes sense) but he also told me that you would also have to replace all the 02 sensors because carbon build up gets put on them........ I was just wondering if there was any truth to this?
