Exclamation 01 stereo install

Does anyone know how to get to, in order to remove, the stock head unit on a 01 z24? Do you really have to take the whole top of the dash off?

Well, ain't that just pretty damn gay. Why does Chevrolet have to be a pain in the ass?! Oh well, does anyone want to share where to undo the top of the dash at and if you need to disconnect the airbag or not. Just wondering
