We have a '90 Trooper V6 and the transmission is bowing fluid out of the dipstick tube. This is usually not a severe problem but just a inconvenience and messy. However on a 300 mile trip it blew so much fluid out and onto the manfold that it actually flamed an burned a wire which I had to replace.
Any ideas? |

Are you 100% sure it's not overfilled? For some reason ATF expands (more than other fluids) when hot & will spill out even if slightly overfilled. Check level only on a warm, idling, level surface truck. Other than that, I would check for a clogged filter and/or have the line pressure tested. You may have some kind of blockage, causing the sump to overfill & come out the filler tube

Re: Blowing transmission fluid
i have grown up in an auto shop my whole life and every single import transmissoin that i have worked on holds 2.5-3. because when you do a trany service not all of the trany fluid drains out so you have some still sitting in the pan
