Re: Rate your Sentra

depends on the model/year really

Watch out for 02 spec-v's, they tend to have some problems. Most of those were fixed in 03, and the rest of the problems were fixed for the 04 models. Not sure how the reliability is on the 1.8L models, but I think it's pretty good.

My car has been into the dealership for warranty work once, and that was to replace a $.05 plastic clip that holds the side molding on. Any other problems were caused directly by me (blown dampers caused by stiff lowering springs, excessive rattles caused by motor mounts and a powerful sub, etc). Right now I have 41k miles and it's going strong, never had a problem I didn't cause.

What do I like:
It's relatively quick, surprises the crap out of most people when they expect it to be an easy kill. The motor is practically bulletproof (mine is atleast, unfortunately for those buying a new car, the sr20 is out of commission; the last sentra to have one is the 01 SE). Good gas mileage, I normally get around 28 and I normally drive very hard, if I just set the cruise ~80mph I'll get up to 34mpg. Easy to take apart, everything just snaps or screws together, great car to put a system in since you can strip the entire interior in 5 min.

What don't I like:
Rattles show up faster than photographer applications at Playboy. I've managed to keep most of them in line with far too much sound deadening material for my own good, but they still pop up relatively quickly. Everything is made cheaply, if you pull something or pop something off the wrong way there's a good chance you could break it. It has a small interior, fine for 2 people, but when you get people in the backseat you start to get some complaints, especially if you're 6'2" and you keep the driver's seat all the way back.

Recommendations:
If you're going to mod it, do it right the first time. Don't get springs, don't get cheap knock-off parts (ebay shit, megan racing, etc), basically don't cut corners or you will regret it.

Re: Rate your Sentra

Nissans especially Sentras can take alot of abuse here is a little history of mine (92 xe).

1. '92 wrecked in front (3 months old) not my fault
2. '93 t-boned still not my fault
3. '96 tapped a horse 2" dent (dad did it)
4. '96 day later $3,000 in hail damage
5. '99 parking lot hit and run fixed again
6. '00 stolen yes stolen recovered with only dented wheel and the strong smell of miss mary jane
7. '04 tranny says good bye with 250,000 mi. motor still runs strong.

I'm planning on doing a motor and 5spd swap and give this poor old friend a make-over. I think she deserves it don't you.

So I would have to say Nissans are durable. I have three Nissan trucks too ranging from 50,000 mi. to 270,000mi. L8R, Shorty
