Rate your type S

I was wondering how everyone is liking their S. I have had some squealing breaks, a headlight that went out and then just started working again for no reason, and exhaust springs that sqeak like a bastard. Has anyone else had these types of issues. Mine is a 2002 and i was wondering if these were common problems, possible because its the first model car for this car. Anyways tell me your goods and bads. The car does however perform great, and I love its looks.

I get a little brake squeal, too and the synchro notchiness, but I can't complain otherwise. I would love more low-end torque, but what can you do- it is a Honda after all. I give it an 8 out of 10.

12 out of 10

Mine's a 2002 (one of the first 1000 ) and the only problem's i've had are minimal - paint chips easily and I had to get the hatch screen fixed (free of charge). Otherwise, no problems. Not even the gear grind that many have.

Oh, another problem is the missing gas tank cap holder and nipple.

rate your rsx-s

My car has had so many problems it's hard to remember them all. Right off the lot it had a defective rear wiper motor. Then it was consuming oil(over 3.5qts mobil 1 in 5,000 mi) resulting in a replacement of the short block finally at 25,000mi. Now it consumes 1 qt every 3,000. Passenger side headlight went out after 6 mo., drivers side headlight was also replaced a few months later. Drivers side seatbelt latching mechanism had to be replaced. Additionally, the plastic engine cover started to vibrate against the intake manifold causing embarrasing noises while cruising through parking lots and was fixed with a strip of foam padding preventing contact. But by far the most annoying problem was a rattle expercienced at different rpms, and I had to take it to the dealership half a dozen times to get it fixed. It turned out to be a loose heatshield, which was tightened but became loose agian and was removed. But there was still a rattle problem at high rpms, and that turned out to be a crushed gasket in the upper exhuast that caused the assembly to rattle lousely. Altogether, I have been to the dealership(excellent) 16-18 times. Now that the car is out of warranty it has curiously had no problems for quite a while other than the check engine light coming on briefly for an unknown reason. I think my troubles with the RSX-S are uncommon and Believe it or not, I still love the car and every time i get in it I just enjoy it immensly. It is exciting and it does everything with impressive smoothness. Do yourself a favor and replace those stock michelins with some bf goodrich KDW's.

Usually if you got to the dealer 3 times or if the car spends 30 days in a garage (can't remember if its consecutive) and it doesn't get fixed you qualify for the lemon law and you can get a new car or sometimes a cash equivalent. Seems like you've got the odd bad apple.

But yes, the Michelins are pretty bad, although I've only experience problems with wheel spin.
