Rule of Thumb for Tire PSI?

I have my stock 13's, and I was wondering what PSI should be? I heard its around 34 or something, but I could be wrong?

Re: Rule of Thumb for Tire PSI?

Yeah I think my OEM ones said in the owners manual like 26psi but ever since those tires i think they're around 32psi.

Actually, the best way to tell, is inside your drivers door...there should be a placard(a laminated piece of paper...), and that should tell you right on there how much they should be. That will be the most accurate pressure. The tire manufacturers dont take in to account all the different kinds of cars they tires will be used for, and each car is different. So check on the inside of your door, or owners manuel.

Personally I would suggest to go by the tire. There's a reason they have the PSI labeled on the sidewall of each tire. It's to tell you the proper PSI of that individual tire for its own maximum gripping/handling and to ensure proper tread wear. EVERY tire is different. I know he said it was for 13's but, what if he has some 18 inch chrome wheels on his civic, would you still follow the recommended tire pressure in the door jam? No, you wouldn't.

Youre probably right for the 18's scenario, however, he was asking about his 13's, hence my answer for the placard or the owners manual. Ive found also for any tire, in my experience, I keep them at 30-32psi. They just ride better and wear more evenly than any other psi. But thats just me...

*WARNING* The previous answer included such phrases as "in my experience" and "thats just me," so please dont take my response as a biblical or absolute, its just what I've found works best FOR ME. I hope by me adding this warning, it prevents anyone from thinking that I'm trying to tell you what you have to do, you asked for help, I offered my advice since I've worked in a tire shop for more than a year and got this psi shit drilled in my head 70 thousand times a day, but dont take my word for it...please check it out with someone who appears to know more than me about it...

My rule, from experience as a tech, 32-35psi is acceptable for most all cars.
