How hard would it be to get an 88GT to about 2500~ lb's?
While keeping keeping it looking nice and somewhat worthy of a daily driver.(like keepign the inside door panels and other things that make wouldbe girlfreinds not say "ick" hehe)
I cant imagine it would be TOO hard since the early fiero's where about 2400/2500 out of the showroom floor. thanks |

There is not too much you can do to one to affordably lighten it. Easiest is to remove the spare, jack, etc, and just carry a can of Flat Fix or a cell phone and an AAA card.
The AC compressor and plumbing can go, if you are serious, as can the underpadding and trunk liner. Aluminum heads and an aftermarket exhaust would help too. hmmmm....you could also leave the g/f behind, and remove the pass. seat, but what fun is that? |

Beyond what MagicRat said, You can go to a lexan windsheild and rear glass, coil overs, c/f body panels and GMPP makes an aluminum 60 deg V6 block. it weighs in at less than 90 pounds. It all matters on how much cash you have.

well considering it would be a step by step project money is no real problem. I dont expect to weigh 2500lb's by the end of this year.
about that GMPP v6. what kind of hp/tq and redline could I get from it? |

You only need to knock off about 350 pounds to get down to a 2500 pound Fiero. Go on a diet, get a skinny girlfriend, get lighter wheels. Outside of what others have suggested, not much else you can do without a GF not saying "ick".

The GMPP block is just a block so Hp/tq numbers are very subjective. So first I give you the specs on it.
First I was wrong block weight is 59 lbs PN# 10051141 Deck height 8.820" Min-Max bore 3.525"-3.582" max stroke 3.20" Splayed main caps wet sump oiling Due to parts availibility probs (meaning nobody makes 3.20" stroke crankshaft) you're going to be limited to about 2.9L. If you built the motor to be turbocharged I'd say 300hp fairly easy. There is a catch though, the block alone was quoted to me at $3133 and I'm friends with some parts guys.
