Suspension Clunking
Hi I have a 1996 SSEI and am getting a clunking sound from the front suspension, mostly when backing out of my driveway. I took it in and my mechanic said everything was tight and if it gets worse bring it back. I noticed my touring ride and performance ride console buttons were both on and the manual says when that happens you have a service problem and take it to a dealer. A few people told me it was a strut problem but I don't know, the lights have me curious. Any thoughts???

Re: Suspension Clunking
HI! I would say it is a problem with the electronic adjustable suspension...could be a bad control module on one of the struts...

Re: Suspension Clunking
Sometimes, the mounts for the front subframe wear and loosen up allowing a bit of movement and clunking. My '88 does it a bit, at slow speeds, parking, backing up, etc.
