Exclamation Police Drift Task Force

Ahhhhh! HAVE YOU GUYS READ THE ARTICLE ABOUT TOUGE DRIFTING IN IMPORT-TUNER? I usually do not read this mag but I had to get it for the article... I guess the COPS are aware of the DRIFTING scene in the mountains and are taking action in the local mountains around here in So.Cal.! I don't really watch too much TV but I guess I heard there was a NEWS report on a LA news station about street drift?

So, I guess this new task-force is giving anyone who is caught drifting or has a modified car and does not live in the local mountains a ticket and impounding their cars! So watch-out guys... this task force is already spreading to a town near you! They even started to do it in Japan...

This kinda reminds me of the street-races that they used to hold in LA and Ontario, Ca. and how the cops started cracking down after that FASTnFURIOUS mess! Ugh... I knew this would happen with drifting!

Re: Drift Police Task Force

Lol, "Drift Police Task Force" it sounds like when you go to the dollar store they have those cheap toy gun packages called "Space Ninja Police Force"
doesnt anyone drift or race in the industrial parks? thats the best place, lots of roads and almost no people to run over!

Re: Drift Police Task Force

...but the Industrial Parks are where everyone is fleeing from to the mountains to drift.... you cannot even race in Ontario, Ca. anymore cus they got curfews and speedbumps on every industrial road... it's hard to find a good spot 'cus they are limited and once evryone starts going to the one good spot... it's gonna get spoiled and the cops will find-out about it!

No wait! I've got a solution!

Join an 'effin club like the SCCA or NASA and run track days like YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO.

Trust me, it's a lot more respectable to compete in sanctioned events than it is to go up on the "touge".

Re: Drift Police Task Force

Yes-Yes... I agree... but not all of us can afford the expenses of the TRACK! C'mon... racing, drifting, etc. started on the streets... you can never completely get rid of illegal racing/drifting! I would love to go to racing school, join a race sanctioning body, and compete professionally... but I cannot afford that! I barely make it through just maintaining my car! How about you guys?

First of all, nobody said that you have to compete as a pro, just go to a track. C'mon, you can autocross your 3Z for like $30 and all you need is a helmet (this is solo2 right).

Yep, you've got Solo II, Solo I, track days, and even amateur drift events like those held at many dragstrips, road courses, and short tracks around the country.

SCCA membership usually runs around $300 a year, but that'll make you eligible to run autocrosses and track days in your local chapter just about every weekend from early spring to late fall.

And renewal afterwards is significantly less.

Club racing and membership in an amateur racer's organization like SCCA or NASA is one of the best things you can do with your performance car.

And yes, you can pay single event charges to run just once or twice. These vary depending on the event, but are manageable.

That'd be pretty easy to fight in Court. Especially if you're like me and don't race on mountain roads. You just go for a drive. They'd have no proof that I was 'racing' or 'drifting'.

But, if all goes according to my personal plans... I wouldn't have to worry about getting tickets. Cops don't ticket other Cops.

The task force is spreading wherever DRIFTING is 'popular' or a 'nuisance'... I'm guessing in larger more populated area's. The article states that there is already a team in HAWAII.

Yes, I know IMPORT-TUNER is gay... I only bought it for the article! They don't even give car stats... I wish we had good mags like OPTION over here....

Drifting (as a sport) started on the streets, S13 Iketani... it just seems kids over here jump the bandwagon in huge masses and the MOTHERS OF AMERICA get more involved and want to abolish everything over here more! I heard from a friend stationed in Japan that Street Drifting is hard to find in Japan nowadays. Everyone does highway-racing or touge-racing now...

Re: Drift Police Task Force

Stop whinging 1viadrft and take it to the track.
If you can't afford to go to the track you can't do it, full stop. This thread highlights one of the things that annoys me the most - I hate it when jumped up little tossers think they deserve to be able to run riot on public roads, just because their hormone fuelled desire to fly around the place takes over their sense of public responsibility.Of course when police step in to stop thier life endangering stupidity, they get up in arms.
Then, they have the gall to call themselves "street racers" which is a contradiction in terms.

In any case, I doubt you'll get picked on by the cops in your bone stock, auto, atmo Z - hardly an attention getter....
