Re: Re: What is double clutching?

Double clutch is something that is NOT needed on our newer cars, trans with synchro's does NOT require a double clutch shift unless you been watching The Riced & Ridiculous. Double clutching is for OLDER vehicles that do not have synchros, LARGE trucks that do not have synchros, or race cars which do not use synchro's. Double clutching a synchro trans will only slightly reduce synchro wear.

Accelerate
Clutch in
Shift neutral
Clutch out
Adjust engine RPM
Clutch in
Shift to next gear
Clutch out
Accelerate

IMO using NO clutch at all is the easiest, fastest, & smoothest way to shift a manual trans. This will cause MAJOR wear/stress if not done correctly.
