I knew I was a car nut when . . .

I was in Junior High School, and any car magazine I found I'd read them cover to cover . . . I'd find all of the car ads that had toll free numbers to call for information . . . I'd call them and ask them to send me all of their product info . . .

I got tons of cool stuff . . . my favorite was a video tape of the new (at that time anyway) Mitsu 3000 GT . . . . anyhow . . . Some of them put their local dealers in touch with me. It was funny, cause at like 6 in the evening my mom would answer the phone and be like: "There's someone on the phone for you from JAGUAR ??!?!!!"

If my mom can find all that old stuff for me (it's in her damned house somewhere), Id' be a happy and almost complete man . . .

When did you know you were a car nut?

The day Dukes Of Hazzard aired when I was a kid. That is when I knew I wanted to get into cars.

I knew it when my father took me out in a 71 Vette. The sound of the engine and the feel of acceleration is something that I have been hooked on ever since.

When i was about 8-9 years old my father took me to the dragracing one day. I was blowen away by the sound/smell and power of these monsters.

We lived next to a river that ran though our town, and he would take me to see the power boats racing as well.

Also to the stockcar track ever weekend in town. This would have been the main factor in turning me into a car nut. We would travel the country watching them. Stockcar racing is a lot different in this country to the USA. Here they smash/bash and roll into each other on dirt tracks and are driven by crazy bastards with no brains. Anything goes when they race. (See pic below as to what they look like)

From there i learnt everything i could about V8's. I never really cared what they where in, i just loved the sound and power.

When i was about 11 by brother-in-law brought a car with a V8 and i was hooked forever. We built up a couple of cars together and got into the dragracing side of things. It all kind of followed on from there.

Actually i_rebel, I'm sure that there are quite a few people on the boards who are here all the time, but wouldn't classify themselves as car nuts. For example, I'm here quite a bit, but when it comes to cars, I really don't know a whole lot.
