I believe there is a Novi supercharger for your car.

try the supercharger from the dealer for the 04 ss impala.
Will fit and probably will cost the same or less than the aftermarket ones.
Don't forget to get the new wiring harness you will need.

No it won't fit. Not only is the L67 (Supercharged series 2) engine different then the L36 (01 N/A motor), the 04 model is a L02 (supercharged series 3). The intake and fuel rails are different, the internals of the motor are different. Sure, you can get an L67 intake, but the swap is barely worth it, as it requires a LOT of work. The best bet is the Novi setup that is available. The best bet is to start hunting around at junkyards for a lower milage L67 out of a grand prix, Bonneville SSEI, or other supercharged model of similiar year. Do an entire swap. An engine out of the yard should cost you about $1500-2000 with the HD tranny (4t65e-HD), then you need to find the wiring harness and computer, which is relatively cheap from the dealer. The computer should run around $300, the harness should be under $500.

thanks because i'm looking to do the same thing. I knew the internals were somewhat different (pistons for one) but i didn't know about the rest. Wrecking yard is the best way to go because of the transmission and all.

umm, wrong, that is TRUE for the GRAND PRIX, but it is FALSE for the IMPALA. the grand prixs changed engines in 04, not the impalas. so the impalas have the LA1 (3.4) from 00-05, and the L36 (3.8) from 00-05, and the L67(3.8 s/c) from 04-05. only the grand prix changed motors in 04.

Re: 2001 impala supercharger

Putting an OEM supercharger on from an L67 to L36 is more complex and costly than what has been discussed. Better off with an aftermarket turbo or supercharger kit.

The L67 uses the Eaton M90 Gen3 supercharger so that is readily available. However, more than a wiring harness or re-programmed PCM is required.

A L36 with normally aspirated Series II 3800 has a totally different intake and fuel injection system not just rails and injectors. The fuel injectors in a L36 are mounted in the lower intake manifold. The fuel injectors on a L67 are mounted in the cylinder heads, therefore L67 cylinder heads will be needed if the plan is to go with the OEM supercharger.
